Chosen and Loved

Chosen and Loved

You’re not barely accepted or just tolerated—you’re chosen. Today’s devotion reminds you that God picked you on purpose and loves you without hesitation.

Ever feel like you belong—but only because someone let you in out of kindness?

It’s easy to believe we’re only accepted conditionally—by people and by God. But Ephesians 1 tells a different story: you’ve been chosen, loved, and adopted into God’s family… and it gave Him great pleasure to do it.

BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING, YOU’LL DISCOVER:

  • Why your identity is rooted in God’s love, not your performance
  • What it means to be chosen by God—before you even existed
  • A simple, powerful phrase to speak over your life today

You’re not fighting for a place at the table—you already belong.

Ever feel like you’re just barely “in”? Like you’re only part of the group, the plan, or the family because someone had to let you in? That if people really knew you, they’d back away? I’ve felt that. That ache of belonging but not really being wanted.

Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I’m Bart Leger, and if you’ve ever struggled to believe that you matter, that you’re wanted, not just tolerated—I’ve got some truth from God’s Word that will change the way you see yourself today.

Let’s go to Ephesians 1:4–5:

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”

You are not an afterthought. You are not barely accepted. You are wanted.

There have been times when I was invited into an event full of people I respected—but I felt out of place. I kept wondering, Do I really belong here? Or did someone just make room out of kindness?

But that’s not how God works.

Ephesians 1 tells us that before the world even began—before you got anything right or wrong—if you are in Christ, God chose you. And not reluctantly. It gave Him great pleasure to bring you into His family.

That means you’re not fighting for a seat at the table. You already have one.

You’re not loved because of your performance. You’re loved because of His purpose.

Let that truth settle in today. You don’t have to earn your place with God. When you trust Jesus as your Savior, you already have it, and it’s secure.

Here’s what I want you to say out loud today: “I am chosen. I am loved. I belong.”

Because if you’re in Christ—that’s not just a feeling. That’s your identity.

Father, thank You for choosing me. Thank You that I’m not on the outside looking in. Help me live from a place of belonging, not striving. Let Your love define me today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
