Faith that lasts isn’t built in the spotlight; it’s rooted deep in Jesus through everyday obedience. In this 100th episode, discover how steady faith changes everything, one small step at a time.

Reaching 100 episodes is a milestone worth celebrating, and it’s all about one thing: faith that stays steady.

Faith that doesn’t quit when life gets unpredictable.

Faith that grows roots deep in Jesus, even when there’s no applause or quick results.

In today’s devotion, you’ll hear the story of missionary Lottie Moon, whose quiet, consistent faith in China planted seeds that are still bearing fruit more than a century later. Her story reminds us that God’s greatest work often happens through steady, ordinary obedience.

Main Scriptures:

Colossians 2:7 – “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

Hebrews 10:23 – “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why spiritual maturity grows slowly but deeply
  • How small acts of faithfulness can echo for generations
  • One daily practice to help you stay grounded when life feels unsteady

Today’s Challenge:

Ask God to deepen your roots in Him.

Don’t rush the process or chase the next big thing; just stay steady in prayer, Scripture, and obedience.

Write down Colossians 2:7 somewhere visible as a reminder that God builds strength in the soil of consistency.

And as this podcast celebrates 100 episodes, would you take a moment to pray for continued stamina and faithfulness to keep creating these devotions and sharing God’s Word?

00:00:01.189 --> 00:00:04.070
She was 32 when she stepped onto a ship for China.

00:00:04.669 --> 00:00:21.050
No big send-off. There were no crowds cheering. Just a small woman with a big gospel and decades of ordinary faithful work ahead. Lottie Moon learned the language, taught girls, she visited homes, and wrote letters back to churches in America.

00:00:21.510 --> 00:00:38.820
Letters that would call believers to prayer, to generosity, and to a deeper faith. Through revolutions and famines and lean years, she kept showing up, letting her roots go down deep in Jesus. Would a slow, steady life like that really matter?

00:00:42.045 --> 00:01:03.255
Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I am Bart Leger, and today's episode is special. This is episode 100. When I started this devotional podcast, I just wanted to help people start their day with God's Word. Even in the middle of life's chaos, and somehow, through 100 episodes, God's been faithful.

00:01:03.645 --> 00:01:14.504
He's given me strength on the days I didn't feel like showing up and recording. He's given me ideas and the grace to keep producing one episode at a time.

00:01:10.765 --> 00:01:15.094
That's what this milestone is really about.

00:01:17.754 --> 00:01:46.754
And when the results don't come fast, Colossians 2.7 says, Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then, your faith will go strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. And Hebrews 10.23 adds, Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope that we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.

00:01:47.575 --> 00:02:36.914
Faith that lasts doesn't come from perfect circumstances, I'm here to tell you. It comes from a faith that is rooted in Jesus Christ and God's Word. Near the end of Lottie Moon's life, a national famine swept across China. Worn down by malnutrition and illness, colleagues begged her to sail home. She finally agreed, but she was so weak that she died on Christmas Eve 1912 as her ship sat in Kobe Harbor, Japan. But her story didn't end there. Years before, her letters had urged churches to take up a special Christmas offering for global missions. That offering began in 1887, and in 1918, it was named the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. More than a century later, it still fuels missionary work around the world.

00:02:33.145 --> 00:02:41.835
That's the harvest of one woman's steady, rooted faith.

00:02:36.914 --> 00:03:04.655
Faith like that doesn't happen overnight. It's built through simple acts of obedience, one moment of trust at a time. You may never stand on a ship's deck bound for a foreign land, but you might be standing at your kitchen sink or your desk or in your patrol car, showing up day after day. That's where faithfulness grows. Steadfast faith isn't flashy. It's steady.

00:03:00.594 --> 00:03:40.435
It shows up when it's inconvenient. It prays when it's dry, and it believes when results take years to show. And that's what this podcast has been for me. One steady act of faith. It takes time, study, and prayer, and sometimes late nights. So as we celebrate this milestone, I want to ask for something simple. Would you pray for me? Pray for stamina and faithfulness to keep creating these devotions, so that each one points people to Jesus and helps others know the freedom and peace he offers. And here's your challenge for today. Ask God to deepen your roots in him.

00:03:41.064 --> 00:03:49.294
Don't chase the next spiritual high. Ask for strength to keep showing up when it's quiet.

00:03:45.254 --> 00:04:11.602
Write down Colossians 2-7 somewhere where you'll see it often. And when the routine feels small, remember, God is doing big things through steady faith. Lord, thank you for your faithfulness through every episode, even when I don't feel like showing up. Teach us to let our roots grow deep in you. When we can't see progress, remind us you're working behind the scenes.

00:04:07.701 --> 00:04:20.122
Strengthen my faith and the faith of every listener today to stay steady, even in the small things. In Jesus' name, amen.

00:04:14.942 --> 00:04:57.872
