Keep Showing Up

Keep Showing Up

God isn’t asking you to be flashy—He’s asking you to be faithful. In this episode, discover how showing up in the little things builds trust, character, and a life that honors Him.

Do you ever feel like your everyday efforts don’t matter?

We live in a world that celebrates big results and headline wins, but God celebrates faithfulness—even in the small, unnoticed moments.

In today’s devotion, you’ll hear the story of NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, whose quiet, behind-the-scenes calculations helped send John Glenn safely into orbit. Her steady faithfulness made history possible, and it’s the same kind of faithfulness God calls us to in our daily lives.

Main Scripture:

Luke 16:10 – “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones…”

By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why God values faithfulness more than flashiness
  • How the small, unseen things you do matter to Him
  • One way to practice faithfulness in your everyday life this week

Today’s Challenge:

Identify one “little thing” in your life that feels unimportant—whether at home, at work, or in your walk with God—and do it faithfully this week, knowing He sees it.

00:00:01.195 --> 00:00:41.595
Cape Canaveral, February 1962. Astronaut John Glenn is suited up to become the first American to orbit the Earth. Computers are new. The math is unforgiving. And right before launch, Glenn makes a request. Get the girl to check the numbers. The girl is a brilliant NASA mathematician named Katherine Johnson. Pencil in hand, slide rule on the desk, Glenn adds, "If she says they're good, I'm ready to go." So she sits down and starts verifying the entire flight path by hand.

00:00:41.595 --> 00:00:42.795
Will the numbers match?

00:00:45.985 --> 00:01:02.295
Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I'm Bart Leger. And today I want to remind you of something freeing. God isn't asking you to be flashy. He's asking you to be faithful. Luke

00:01:02.295 --> 00:01:16.939
10 says, "If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones." The numbers? They confirmed the computer's work.

00:01:14.480 --> 00:01:25.590
Luke 17: 12 says, "The land launched, orbited the planet and splashed down safely. A turning point in the space race." And it wasn't her first rodeo either.

00:01:26.019 --> 00:02:06.400
The year before, Katherine Johnson had calculated the trajectory for Alan Shepard's historic Freedom 7 flight: the first American in space. The year before, thatake said,"Master is the future. If you are true. Not a flashy job. Just quiet, exact faithfulness under the radar that made headline moments possible." Oh, and if you're interested, the 2016 movie, Hidden Figures is based on the life of Katherine Johnson and two other female African-American mathematicians who worked for NASA during the space race. Faithfulness isn't always glamorous. It doesn't always make the news, but it matters more than we think.

00:02:02.879 --> 00:02:22.159
Jesus said, "If we're faithful in the little things, we'll be faithful in the big ones." In other words, God notices what no one else sees. We can show up in many ways. The quiet prayers you pray for your children. The way you show up to work and do your job, even when it goes unnoticed.

00:02:22.469 --> 00:02:53.641
The consistent integrity you practice when no one's applauding. And the way you keep serving a church or encouraging a friend, even when it doesn't feel like And that's you. You're there. And the way you do it is that you're there. Those are the things that build a life of trust and character. And they prepare you for bigger opportunities God may place in your path. Our culture celebrates big wins and headline results. But God celebrates faithfulness. He's not measuring you against the world scoreboard.

00:02:49.681 --> 00:02:57.641
He's looking for steady, humble obedience. And over time, that kind of faithfulness builds legacies.

00:02:59.722 --> 00:03:05.122
It strengthens communities. And it points people to Christ.

00:03:05.831 --> 00:03:25.085
What's one little thing in your life right now that feels unseen or unimportant? Choose to do it with faithfulness this week, remembering that God sees it, even if no one else does.
