Sometimes the quietest acts of service are the ones heaven applauds the loudest. In this episode, discover why God sees every hidden act of faithfulness, and how serving quietly reshapes your heart for eternity.

Maybe you stayed late to help a coworker, cooked a meal for a neighbor, or prayed for someone in secret. No spotlight. No applause. Just quiet obedience.

That’s exactly the kind of service Jesus spoke about in Matthew 6:6: “Your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”

In today’s episode, we’ll look at the story of Laundry Love—church volunteers who show up in laundromats with quarters and detergent, covering loads of laundry for strangers. No speeches. No credit. Just kindness that God sees.

Here’s what you’ll take away:

  • Why the hidden moments of service matter most in God’s kingdom.
  • How to shift your perspective from earthly applause to eternal reward.
  • Simple ways you can practice quiet service in your everyday life.

So when you feel unseen, remember—you’re never overlooked by your Father in heaven.

Scripture from today’s episode:

Matthew 6:6 – “Your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”

"It's a Tuesday night at a coin-op laundromat. The hum of dryers. Kids are doing homework on plastic chairs. Then, a few church folks slip in. No fanfare, no banner, just a roll of quarters, a tote of detergent, a couple of pizzas, and they start quietly asking, hey, can we cover your wash tonight? No speeches and no sign-up sheet.

00:00:25.681 --> 00:00:34.490
It was just a quiet kindness in the spin cycle. Well, let's hit pause there.

00:00:37.064 --> 00:00:59.534
Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I'm Bart Leger, and for the next few minutes we're going to start the day with some truth that can shape the way we live today. This devotion is about the quiet, often unseen ways we serve, and the powerful reminder that even if no one else notices, God does. Matthew

00:00:59.534 --> 00:01:10.674
6 says, "Your Father who sees everything will reward you." That laundromat scene has a name.

00:01:05.555 --> 00:01:41.456
It's called Laundry Love, a simple church practice of praying for loads and offering supplies a normal day and treating neighbors with dignity, right where life happens. In South Florida, volunteers even bring socks and detergent, plus pizza and water, because clean clothes and a slice can turn a hard week around. In Clearwater, Florida, a team from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church shows up monthly with quarters in care.

00:01:34.155 --> 00:01:45.527
on the first Monday of every month. And in Plant City, St.

00:01:41.456 --> 00:01:49.996
Peter's Episcopal runs a second Monday laundromat ministry.

00:01:45.527 --> 00:01:49.996
Friendship and prayer included.

00:01:49.996 --> 00:02:11.076
most never know who paid. I'm sure there are people in their churches who gave toward it, but they're not necessarily recognized. There's no plaque on the wall or donor name in lights, just the quiet knowledge that somebody cared enough to help.

00:02:06.496 --> 00:02:13.567
And that gets right to the heart of what Jesus was teaching in Matthew 6. He warned against doing good works just to be noticed by others, whether it's giving, praying, or fasting.

00:02:18.437 --> 00:03:09.977
Jesus said, "Don't do it for show." Why? Because if the applause of people is your goal,"That's all the reward you'll get." But if your goal is to honor God, He sees, and His reward is eternal. I'll think about it for a moment. We live in a world that constantly says,"Post it. Prove it. And make sure that people notice. I know, recognition feels good. But it doesn't last. Eventually, the likes fade, and the applause dies down. People eventually move on. But God says, "I saw that. I saw your faithfulness. I saw your kindness. I saw your quiet service when no one else clapped." And His reward? It

00:03:09.977 --> 00:03:35.917
Where in your life are you quietly serving now? Maybe it's showing up early at work to prep something no one else thanks you for. Maybe it's caring for an aging parent or a sick spouse doing the same routine day after day without applause. Maybe it's volunteering behind the scenes at church or giving generously in ways no one knows but God.

00:03:36.956 --> 00:04:21.336
And maybe you've been tempted to think, "Does this even matter anymore? No one notices." But Jesus reminds us, "Your Father, who sees everything, will reward you." That means your labor is not wasted. Your prayers are not unheard. Your sacrifices are not forgotten. So today, serve with that perspective. When you fold the laundry, when you send that next encouraging text, and when you pray for someone quietly, when you go out of your way to meet a need. Remember, even if the world, your Father in heaven does, your Father in heaven does.

00:04:17.276 --> 00:04:40.336
And that's enough. Lord, help us to serve faithfully, even when no one else notices. Teach us to live for your approval, not the applause of others. I thank you that you see every hidden act of love and promise a reward that lasts forever. In Jesus' name.

00:04:34.057 --> 00:04:58.627
Amen. Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. Remember, when no one else sees, God does. And His reward lasts forever. Come back next time for more encouragement to help you live grounded in God's truth. Until then, God bless, and have a great day.
