Made For Worship

Made For Worship

Worship isn’t just about singing on Sunday—it’s about how we live every day. In this episode, discover how even ordinary tasks can become an offering to God when we give our whole selves to Him.

Do you think of worship only as singing on Sunday?

The Bible paints a bigger picture. True worship is giving your whole life—your work, your decisions, even your daily routines—to God as a living sacrifice.

In this episode, we’ll look at the story of Eric Liddell, the Olympic runner who chose obedience to God over earthly glory, and how his example teaches us that worship is more than music—it’s how we live.

Main Scripture:

Romans 12:1 (NLT) – “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.”

By the time you finish listening, you’ll discover:

  • Why worship is far bigger than a song or service
  • How ordinary tasks become acts of worship when done for God
  • A simple step you can take today to live a life of worship

Practical Challenge for Today:

Take one ordinary task—washing dishes, answering emails, driving to work—and whisper a prayer as you do it: “Lord, I give this to You as worship.”

The stadium is buzzing, and Scotland's fastest sprinter, Eric Little, is expected to shine in the 100 meters, his best event. Then, he learns the heats are scheduled for Sunday.

As a devout Christian, he won't run on the Lord's Day. Reporters call him stubborn. Teammates worry he's throwing away his shot. So, what do you do when faith and your plans collide on the biggest stage of your life?

Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I'm Bart Leger, and for the next few minutes, I want to remind you that worship is not just a Sunday morning activity. True worship is offering every part of your life to God, even when it costs you something. Today's verse reminds us that our bodies, and by way of extension, everything we do, can be viewed as a living sacrifice to God. Romans 12.1 says, And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. So, what did Eric Little do? He pivots. He trains for the 400 meters, a race he isn't favored to win. On the final day, someone on the team slips him a note with a line from scripture. He that honors me, I will honor. Eric settles into the blocks, runs like a man set free, and breaks the tape in 47.6 seconds, a world record, then later takes the bronze in the 200. After the tears fade, he leaves the spotlight to serve as a missionary in China. That was his worship. Not just his missionary service, he was offering his whole life to God, both on and off the track. And that's exactly what Paul is talking about in Romans 12. Real worship isn't confined to a a and doesn't have to be in a or an auditorium during a time of worship where body of Christ is gathered together. It's when we give our whole selves to God, our plans, our careers, our free time, our relationships. It's choosing to honor him even when it costs us something. Think about your daily life. Worship is showing integrity at work when no one's watching. Choosing patience with your kids when frustration rises. Serving someone in need without expecting recognition. Offering your decisions and dreams to God and asking him to use them for his glory. Worship is living in such a way that every moment, big or small, points back to God.

00:03:19.400 --> 00:03:24.650
And here's the beautiful part.

00:03:19.400 --> 00:03:37.310
When you live that way, your whole life becomes a song of praise, even in the most ordinary moments. Eric Little once said, That's worship.

00:03:54.689 --> 00:04:01.469
Today, Take one ordinary task.

00:03:54.689 --> 00:04:51.004
Washing dishes, answering emails, driving to work, and whisper a prayer as you do it. Lord, I give this to you as worship. Let that simple act remind you that all of life belongs to him. Lord, help me remember that worship is not just what I sing, but how I live. Teach me to honor you in my work, in my relationships, and my daily choices. May my life be a living sacrifice, bringing glory to you. In Jesus' name, amen. Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. Remember, worship isn't just what you sing, it's how you live. Come back next time for more encouragement to help you live grounded in God's truth. Until then, God bless and have a great day.
