Missed connections aren’t just travel hassles—they can be God’s perfect timing. Discover how a delay became the start of something beautiful in this Romans 8:28 reminder.

What if the delays and detours you dread were actually God setting something good in motion?

We’ve all been there—missed trains, canceled flights, or traffic jams that throw your plans into chaos. It’s frustrating. It feels like wasted time. And sometimes it leaves you wondering if God even notices.

Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things—yes, even the inconvenient ones—for the good of those who love Him. In today’s episode, we’ll explore how He can turn even the smallest interruptions into moments of blessing.

Key Takeaways:

  • God’s timing includes the delays you’d rather avoid.
  • Small inconveniences can lead to unexpected blessings.
  • Trusting God in the moment opens your eyes to His purposes.
  • Your detours aren’t wasted—they’re woven into His plan.

Next time your plans are interrupted, pause and pray: “Lord, what good might You be working through this?”

Scripture Mentioned in this Episode:

Romans 8:28 “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose for them.”

London's King Cross Railway Station was absolutely packed a few days before Christmas. Carolers were singing in one corner. Crowds of travelers gathered in the middle of the Victorian concourse, looking at the departure boards waiting for their platform to be announced. A 20-something named Janneia staggered in after four days of travel from Mozambique.

00:00:21.076 --> 00:00:45.335
Her flight's delays had already cost her her Plan A train, Plan B train, and, as she says, her Plan Everything train for getting to Cambridge. She finally reaches the platform, and it's almost empty. Two trains, no guard, no clue, and her stomach drops. Then she hears a voice behind her. Excuse me, is this the train to Cambridge?

00:00:49.448 --> 00:00:53.468
Hey, friends. Welcome back to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives.

00:00:53.948 --> 00:01:33.477
I'm Bart Leger, and in the next few minutes, we're talking about those small inconveniences and unexpected delays that feel like they've thrown your plans off course. But what if, instead of just being frustrating, those detours were actually part of God's plan? Romans 8.28 reminds us, God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose for them. It doesn't say some things. It says everything. Even the travel delays. Even the missed trains. And the moments you wished had gone differently.

00:01:34.147 --> 00:01:42.188
Now let's get back to Genaia on that platform. She turns around to see a guy named Arthur who offers to help with her bags.

00:01:42.617 --> 00:02:49.300
They board together, find seats, and what starts as, Which train is this? turns into an hour-long conversation. When they part ways in Cambridge, they exchange details, promising to friend each other on Facebook and go their separate ways. Holiday hugs for her family. A retreat for him. Over the next days, messages pop up. Then, phone calls. Later, visits. That missed train, caused by a delayed flight, became the first chapter of a love story. As CNN put it, she met her future husband on the platform. Now, when you and I hit delays or detours, our first instinct is what? Most of the time, it's frustration. We just want to get back on track. We want to get back and be accomplishing something. But God's view is bigger. He sees the connections, the conversations, and those opportunities that these delays might create.

00:02:45.320 --> 00:03:51.580
I can't promise every inconvenience will lead to a marriage or a wonderful, life-changing moment, but I can promise God never wastes your waiting. Sometimes, the very thing you wish hadn't happened is the thing He uses to bless you or maybe someone else down the road. So today, when plans change, pause and ask, Lord, what good might you be working through this? That prayer turns your focus from what you've lost to what He might be giving. The next time you hit an unexpected delay, whether it's a traffic jam, a long line, a missed connection, or a phone call that comes at the worst possible moment, see it as a Romans 828 moment in the making. God may be weaving something good you can't see yet. Lord, thank You that You're present in the big moments and in the small ones.

00:03:47.031 --> 00:04:12.640
help me trust that even the delays and the detours and those inconveniences that frustrate us are in Your hands. Give me eyes to see Your purpose and a heart that's ready to respond. In Jesus' name, Amen. Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives.
