When life feels confusing and you can’t see how the pieces fit, remember, God can. In this episode, discover how to trust the One who sees the full picture even when you only see a part.

Ever hit a moment when life just doesn’t make sense?

You pray, you serve, you do the right things, and suddenly, something breaks. The plan you thought God was blessing seems to fall apart.

In this episode, Bart shares the story of worship leader Phil Wickham, who lost his singing voice in 2014 and faced the possibility of never leading worship again. What do you do when your calling feels over?

Through Wickham’s story and the truth of Isaiah 46:10, you’ll see that God’s perspective is bigger than our pain. The same God who saw the end from the beginning in Phil’s life sees what He’s doing in yours, even when you don’t understand it.

Main Scriptures:

Isaiah 46:10 (NLT) – “Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.

Romans 8:28 (NLT) – “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose.

By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:

  • How God’s view extends far beyond what you can see
  • Why seasons of silence can be seasons of shaping
  • How to trust that His plan is still unfolding in your life

Today’s Challenge:

Write down one situation that doesn’t make sense right now. Then next to it, write Isaiah 46:10 as a reminder: “God sees the full picture.”

Ask Him for peace to trust His timing and perspective.

*He is a worship leader with songs on the radio. His voice is his ministry and his livelihood. Then, his voice starts to fail. Doctors find a vocal cord polyp and schedule surgery. The plan after? Total silence. No talking, especially no singing. In four weeks. And there's a chance he may not sing the same way again. That was Phil Wickham's reality in 2014.

00:00:29.629 --> 00:00:33.090
What do you do when your calling suddenly feels in jeopardy?

00:00:35.850 --> 00:00:40.540
Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I'm Bart Leger.

00:00:40.731 --> 00:00:49.981
Sometimes, life takes turns that don't make sense. You pray and plan and still things fall apart.

00:00:45.761 --> 00:00:54.381
Maybe it's your job or your health, your relationships, or maybe even your sense of purpose.

00:00:54.670 --> 00:01:04.040
And in those moments, we wonder what God's doing. Because all we can see is one small piece of the puzzle. But here's the truth.

00:01:04.040 --> 00:01:12.480
God sees the whole picture. He knows how every detail fits together, even when we don't.

00:01:07.460 --> 00:01:25.131
Isaiah 46: 10 says, Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. We serve a God who isn't surprised by anything.

00:01:21.831 --> 00:02:11.917
He sees the beginning. He sees the middle and the end all at once. Now that's hard for us to understand, but what confuses us is just clear to Him. And what feels random to us is part of His design. After surgery Phil went quiet. Literally. It was a slow process, but he eventually healed. He relearned how to use His voice and in the years that followed, out of all... how to use his voice, And in the years that followed, out of that valley came new worship, including the 2018 album and anthem, Living Hope. He's talked often about how God used the forced stillness to deepen his dependence and reshape his ministry. When life didn't make sense, God saw the end from the beginning and met him in the silence. That same God can meet you, and you're in between too.

00:02:12.157 --> 00:02:15.120
Maybe you're there now, in a season that doesn't make sense.

00:02:15.469 --> 00:02:23.340
The prayers seem unanswered, and your direction is unclear. But the same God, who is faithful to Phil, is faithful to you.

00:02:23.539 --> 00:03:16.770
Sometimes, God allows what we don't understand to prepare us for what we couldn't handle otherwise. What looks like silence might actually be shaping. What feels like a setback today may be the start of a new song tomorrow. Think about this. When you're standing close to a painting, all you can see are brushstrokes, lines, and colors that don't even seem to fit. But step back, and the picture comes into focus. See, that's what faith is. Trusting that God sees what we can't. So if you're walking through something right now that doesn't make sense, take heart. God hasn't lost sight of you. He's not rewriting the story. He's maybe just revealing it one piece at a time. Here's today's challenge. Take one situation in your life that feels confusing or unresolved and write it down.

00:03:17.219 --> 00:03:26.620
Then next to it, write Isaiah 4610. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens.

00:03:21.599 --> 00:03:38.800
And then remind yourself, God already knows the outcome. And pray something like this. Lord, I don't see how this fits yet, but I trust that you do. And let that be your act of faith today.

00:03:34.400 --> 00:04:29.920
Father, thank you that nothing surprises you. When I can see the full picture, help me trust that you can. Strengthen my faith in the waiting and remind me that your plan is always good and always on time. In Jesus' name, amen. I would love to pray for you. Maybe it's a family situation, or a job, or maybe healing. Let me know by leaving me a voicemail at dailydevotionsforbusylives.com slash voicemail. And I'll be sure to join with you and bring your request to God. Don't worry, I'll leave that link in the show notes. Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. Remember, even when life doesn't make sense, God sees it all. Come back next time for more encouragement to help you live grounded in God's truth.

00:04:25.259 --> 00:04:30.410
Until then, God bless and have a great day.
