When your soul feels dry, Jesus offers living water that never runs out. In this episode, discover how Bear Grylls’ story points us back to the only Source that truly satisfies.

Do you ever feel spiritually empty?

We all hit seasons where our hearts feel dry. We become restless and unsatisfied. Success, busyness, and even good things can’t quench that thirst. Only Jesus can.

In today’s devotion, you’ll hear the story of survivalist Bear Grylls, who discovered that what he was missing wasn’t adventure but a “simple faith” in Jesus. His story reminds us that when life leaves us thirsty, Christ invites us to come to Him for rivers of living water.

Main Scripture:

John 7:37–38 – “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”

By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why success and busyness can still leave us empty
  • How Jesus satisfies our deepest thirst with His presence
  • A simple prayer to refill your soul when you feel dry

Today’s Challenge:

Take ten minutes today to pray honestly: “Lord, I’m thirsty. Fill me again with Your Spirit.” Then sit quietly in His presence and let Him refill what’s been drained. Spend time with Him in His Word and allow Him to replenish where you have been drained.

*you may be familiar with the name Bear Grylls. I mean, just the sound of his name sounds macho. Bear hangs off cliffs and eats bugs on TV. But here's the part you may not Behind the cameras, he kept feeling this nagging thirst. He couldn't shake.

00:00:20.838 --> 00:00:39.607
But it all faded fast. He started wondering if there was something more solid to build a life on. One evening, looking for answers, he slipped into a simple gathering where people were talking honestly about Jesus and faith. No fanfare, and no spotlight. Just real conversation and prayer. He sat

could this be something we need to do?

Welcome to Daily Devotions 4 Busy Lives.

00:00:48.895 --> 00:00:57.744
I'm Bart Leger, and today we're going to talk about what to do when you feel spiritually empty.

00:00:58.137 --> 00:01:05.206
We've all been there. Those times when you feel dry inside, like nothing is clicking and your faith feels more like a routine than a relationship. The good news is, all the time...

00:01:06.387 --> 00:01:12.546
the good news is, Jesus invites us to come to Him when we're

00:01:12.546 --> 00:01:25.206
Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me. Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink. For the

00:01:25.206 --> 00:01:31.106
rivers of living water will flow from His heart. That night, Bear found what he later called: a simple faith in Jesus.

00:01:33.277 --> 00:02:12.396
A relationship. Not a performance. He didn't clean himself up first or earn it. He just came thirsty. And that's the invitation Jesus makes in John 7:"Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me. A Bear's story isn't about becoming a TV hero, it's about a dry heart meeting the source of living water. And when that living water started to flow, it brought a peace that he had never before experienced. It was a peace and fulfillment. He did not make a living water. He did not have any so- "I think many of us can relate to bear's thirst. We chase after success, after relationships, material things, or busyness, hoping they'll satisfy. But the truth is, all of those things eventually leave us dry.

00:02:22.046 --> 00:02:37.933
Jesus is the only source that truly fills us. Jesus is the only source that truly fills us." When you're feeling spiritually empty, it's not a sign, necessarily, that you failed.

00:02:34.593 --> 00:02:38.174
It's an invitation to come back to Him.

00:02:41.343 --> 00:02:47.074
Lord, I'm thirsty. I need You.

00:02:41.343 --> 00:03:04.774
You know, that simple honesty is where real renewal begins. And notice the promise. When we come to Jesus, it's not just a sip of water. It's rivers of living water flowing from within. In other words, His Spirit doesn't just refresh us. He makes us a source of refreshment to others.

00:03:05.283 --> 00:03:27.774
What you receive from Christ is meant to spill over into every area of your life. Every relationship in your life will benefit. So if you are in a dry season today, hear this: You don't need a bigger adventure or a fresh distraction. What you need is a deeper well. And Jesus is that well. Take 10 minutes

00:03:27.774 --> 00:03:51.014
"Lord, I'm thirsty. Fill me again with Your Holy Spirit." Then, open up God's Word and spend a few moments in quiet. Get rid of the distractions for a moment. No phone, no noise. Just open yourself to His presence. Let Him refill what's been drained.

00:03:46.093 --> 00:04:28.863
Jesus, thank You for inviting me to come when I'm thirsty. I confess that I often run to other things to try to fill my emptiness. But only You can satisfy. Fill me with Your Spirit today, and let Your living water flow through me to bless others. In Your name I pray. Amen. Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. Remember, when your soul feels dry, don't chase distractions. Come back to the source of living water. Come back next time for more encouragement to help you live grounded in God's truth. Until then, God bless and have a great day.
