You weren’t meant to walk the Christian life alone. In this episode, discover why spiritual growth happens best in community, and how God uses His people to encourage and strengthen us.

Do you ever feel like you’re doing faith on your own?

It’s easy to slip into isolation, but God designed us to grow stronger together. The Bible reminds us not to neglect meeting with other believers, because encouragement, accountability, and hope flourish in community.

In today’s devotion, you’ll hear the story of Mr. Edward, a lonely neighbor whose life was changed when simple visits turned into real belonging in a church family. His journey reminds us that a knock on the door, or an invitation to church, can open the way to community.

Main Scripture:

Hebrews 10:24–25 – “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.”

By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why isolation weakens our faith, but community strengthens it
  • How showing up creates space for encouragement and accountability
  • A simple step to connect more deeply with your church family this week

Today’s Challenge:

Don’t just attend, connect. Go out of your way to encourage one person at church this week. Send a text, sit with someone new, or invite a neighbor to come with you.

Mr. Edward lives on the street beside our church. He's a widower in his late 80s. We met him a couple of years ago when we took fruit baskets to the three streets right around our building. Last Christmas, we went back with a complete Christmas meal for those same neighbors. He stood in the doorway, a little stunned, and said, no church has ever visited me before. It was clear he was lonely. Outside of his adult daughter, he didn't have any connections. Our team remembers walking back to the van, wondering if he'd ever feel at home with us, or if this was just a kind of moment at his front door.

Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I'm Bart Leger, and today we're talking about why you need a faith community. God never designed us to walk the Christian life alone. We grow best when we're walking side-by-side with others who can encourage, and challenge, and I meet God on the golf course or on the lake. Now, while that can be true, Send a text, sit with someone new, or invite a neighbor like to walk alone. Stay connected to a community of faith. Come back next time for more encouragement to help you live grounded in God's truth. Until then, God bless and have a great day.

invitation, a kind word, or a listening ear, and help me to be that person this week. In Jesus' name, amen. Now, before you go, if you or someone else you know has ever been hurt by the church, I have something for you. That kind of experience can be devastating to your faith. And because of that, I've put together an e-book called, How to Keep Your Faith When the Church Let You Down. Maybe you felt the sting of disappointment when people in the church didn't live up to what you hoped. This short e-book will give you encouragement and perspective and some biblical truth to help you move forward in faith, even when others fall short. You can download it free by heading over to dailydevotionsforbusylives.com slash church. And I'd love for you to grab a copy today. And while you're at it, share the link with someone you know who might need it. The link is going to be in the show notes. Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives.
