The God Who Carries You

The God Who Carries You

God takes care of us throughout our lives, even when we get old and gray. Have you ever hit a season where you felt your strength slipping?

God takes care of us throughout our lives, even when we get old and gray.

Have you ever hit a season where you felt your strength slipping?

Maybe life has changed, your body has changed, your responsibilities have changed, and you wonder, “Can I still trust God to take care of me?”

In today’s episode, Bart shares the story of Lula Mae White, a 100-year-old woman from central Louisiana who stood before her church and said the one thing that mattered most: “Tell them about Jesus… and what He has done for me.” Her life testifies that God doesn’t just start with us, He carries us through every season.

Through this story and the promises of Isaiah 46, you’ll be reminded that the God who made you is the God who sustains you. From before you were born until your hair is white with age, He promises to carry you, care for you, and never abandon you.

Main Scriptures:

Isaiah 46:3–4 (NLT) – “I have cared for you since you were born… I will be your God throughout your lifetime… I will carry you along and save you.

Hebrews 13:5 (NLT) – “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why God’s care doesn’t fade with age or changing seasons
  • How to rest in the promise that He carries you, not the other way around
  • What it looks like to trust Him when your strength feels thin

Today’s Challenge:

Name one burden you’ve been carrying on your own.

Say out loud, “Lord, I hand this to You. Carry me through this.”

Let His promise in Isaiah 46 steady your heart today.

Speak:

At a packed church hall in central Louisiana, my home

Speak:

state, a 100-year-old woman stood to say a few words. Folks

Speak:

leaned in, waiting for the secret to a long life. She

Speak:

smiled and said, Tell them about Jesus and what He has done for

Speak:

me. Not necessarily what they expected, but what she had to

Speak:

say made everyone realize that her faith in Jesus has carried

Speak:

her through every chapter of her life. Her family said, It's that

Speak:

same faith and her constant love that has made her a rock for

Speak:

generations. Who is she, and what's her story?

Speak:

Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I am Bart Léger,

Speak:

and today we're talking about something every one of us needs,

Speak:

especially as life brings new seasons, new challenges, and new

Speak:

uncertainties. We're talking about the God who doesn't just

Speak:

walk beside you, but the God who carries you. Whether you're

Speak:

young, middle-aged, or your hair is starting to turn a little

Speak:

gray, God says, I've been with you since day one, and I'm not

Speak:

going anywhere. Her name is Lula Mae White. Family and friends

Speak:

filled a family life center at Zion Hill Baptist Church to

Speak:

honor her 100th birthday, calling out her faith and the

Speak:

way she's pointed generations to Christ. When reporters asked for

Speak:

wisdom, she didn't offer life hacks or health tips. She

Speak:

pointed straight to Jesus. And can you imagine all the changes

Speak:

she's seen in 100 years? And through all the changes in her

Speak:

life. Even at 100, she still wanted others to know the one

Speak:

who carried her. Isaiah 46, verses 3 through 4 says, Listen

Speak:

to me, descendants of Jacob, all you who remain in Israel. I have

Speak:

cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before

Speak:

you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime,

Speak:

until your hair is white with age.

Speak:

Hebrews 13, verse 5 reminds us, Now those aren't temporary

Speak:

promises. That's a lifelong commitment. As my hair has

Speak:

already begun to turn gray, here's what I know. Life has

Speak:

seasons that stretch us. There are moments when you feel strong,

Speak:

like a rock. And moments when you wonder how you're going to

Speak:

make it through the week. Maybe even through the day. But God

Speak:

tells us exactly what Lula Mae discovered. I've carried you

Speak:

since before you took your first breath. And I'll carry you long

Speak:

after your strength starts to fade. Maybe right now, you're

Speak:

entering a new season. Maybe it's aging parents, adult

Speak:

children, financial shifts, health concerns, or just the

Speak:

emotional wear and tear that comes with time. And you think,

Speak:

Lord, I don't know if I can keep doing this. You know, the good

Speak:

news is, you don't have to do it in your own strength. God's not

Speak:

asking you to sprint on your own legs. He's the one lifting you,

Speak:

steadying you, and strengthening you, carrying you. Think about a

Speak:

child who falls asleep in the car on the way home. I know our

Speak:

kids have done that many times when they were little. They

Speak:

don't worry about how they'll get to bed. They don't stress

Speak:

over the distance or the steps. Their parent scoops them up,

Speak:

pulls them close, and carries them the rest of the way. That's

Speak:

the picture God gives us in Isaiah 46. God says, I've been

Speak:

doing that for you all along. So, if you feel tired, overwhelmed,

Speak:

unsupported, or like you're walking into a season where you

Speak:

don't have the strength you used to have, take heart. You were

Speak:

never meant to carry yourself. God says, I made you. I will

Speak:

care for you. I will carry you along and save you. Today, I

Speak:

want you to choose one burden. Just one that you've been

Speak:

carrying in your own strength. Then say out loud, Lord, I hand

Speak:

this to you. Carry me through this. It may feel small, or it

Speak:

might feel huge. Either way, let him lift what you weren't meant

Speak:

to hold alone. Lord, thank you that you don't abandon us when

Speak:

life gets heavier and we can't bear up. Thank you for carrying

Speak:

us from the very beginning and promising to carry us all the

Speak:

way home. Help us to rest in your strength today and trust

Speak:

your care. And Lord, help us to lean into your everlasting arms.

Speak:

In Jesus' name, amen. Thanks for joining me today on Daily

Speak:

Devotions for Busy Lives. Remember, the God who made you

Speak:

will carry you through every season of your life. Come back

Speak:

next time for more encouragement to help you live grounded in

Speak:

God's truth. Until then, God bless and have a great day.
