Worry fades when we remember God’s daily care. In this episode, learn how trusting Him for today brings peace and freedom from tomorrow’s fears.

Do you ever find yourself anxious about tomorrow’s needs?

Jesus points us to the birds as living reminders of His faithfulness. They don’t plan or store away, yet they are fed by the Father. In the same way, God promises to provide what His children need one day at a time.

In today’s devotion, you’ll hear the story of a small church food pantry, ordinary boxes of groceries that became living examples of “daily bread.” Each box sent out was more than food; it was a reminder that God sees and provides.

Main Scripture:

Matthew 6:26 – “Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest… yet your heavenly Father feeds them.”

By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why Jesus pointed to the birds as an example of trust
  • How worry steals today’s strength but never solves tomorrow’s problems
  • Simple reminders that show God’s provision is enough for today

Today’s Challenge:

Every time you see a bird today, pause and thank God for His provision. Let it remind you that He cares for you even more and is faithful to meet your needs one day at a time.

At our church, we operate a small food pantry. On the other end of each box is a neighbor whose cupboards are bare. When one of those boxes leaves the shelf, it isn't just groceries. It's dinner for the week. And I find myself thinking, that really is daily bread in real time. Could this be what Jesus was talking about?

00:00:26.000 --> 00:01:13.888
Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I'm Bart Leger, and for more than 40 years as a pastor, I've seen how God provides in ways both simple and surprising. Today, we're looking at what birds can teach us about trusting God with daily provision. Matthew 6, verse 26 says, Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your Heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to Him than they are? Look at the birds, Jesus said. They don't plant or harvest, yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Today's needs met, today's way. And that's the lesson God provides for today.

00:01:14.368 --> 00:01:17.299
We don't have to carry tomorrow's burdens into today.

00:01:17.778 --> 00:01:36.438
We don't have to know where all the resources will come from months down the road. Like the birds, we trust that God knows our needs, and He's faithful to meet them. Think about how much our stress comes from borrowing trouble from the future. We lie awake thinking, what if I don't have enough? What if this breaks?

00:01:36.978 --> 00:01:54.299
What if I can't handle what's next? Jesus pulls us back to the present. Look at the birds. They live one day at a time. Now, they're not lazy. They gather, but they're not anxious. They trust the hand that provides.

00:01:50.478 --> 00:02:03.159
And that's what I see in those pantry boxes. God doesn't always stock the freezer for a month, but He gives enough for today.

00:01:58.819 --> 00:02:59.493
And when we learn to live with that rhythm of trust, life actually feels lighter. We can serve our neighbor, meet today's responsibilities, and sleep knowing tomorrow is God's to handle. And that's freeing, because if God cares about sparrows, He surely cares about you. You are worth infinitely more than birds, and His promise is that your daily bread will not be forgotten. Here's your challenge for today. When you feel worry creeping in about the future, pause and pray, Lord, thank you for meeting my need today. Help me trust you with tomorrow. Then look for one small way God provided for you today. Maybe it's a meal, or an encouraging conversation, or the strength to keep going. Let that be your reminder. He's got today covered. Father, thank you for caring, even for the birds, and even more for us. Teach us to live one day at a time, and trust in you for daily bread.

00:02:59.804 --> 00:03:11.533
Free our hearts from tomorrow's worries and help us to see your hand in today's provision. In Jesus' name, amen. Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives.

00:03:12.074 --> 00:03:26.063
Remember, God's provision is enough for today, and He will be faithful tomorrow too. Come back next time for more encouragement to help you live grounded in God's truth. Until then, God bless, and have a great day.
