You’re doing your best to keep it all together—juggling deadlines, dishes, and everyone else’s needs—but inside, you feel like you’re barely holding on.

Maybe your calendar’s full but your heart feels empty… or you’ve hit a point where even small things feel overwhelming.

You smile on the outside, but deep down, the noise, the pressure, and the uncertainty have you asking, “God, where are You in all this?”

Hey friends, welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I’m Bart Leger, and for the next three minutes, we’re going to steady our hearts with some truth that can carry us through whatever today throws our way.

Let’s start in the book of Psalms. Psalm 46:1–2 says this:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.”

I don’t know what your life looks like today. But if it feels like the ground is shifting beneath your feet—if your plans are falling apart, if the stress is mounting, if the unknowns are piling up—this is your reminder: God is still your refuge and strength.

Psalm 46 doesn’t promise us a life without trouble—it promises us a God in the middle of trouble.

Let’s be honest. Life can feel completely out of control. The diagnosis comes in. The job falls through. The phone rings with news you weren’t ready for. And suddenly it feels like the mountains are crashing into the sea.

But the psalmist says, “We will not fear.” Why? Because God is not far away. He’s not pacing nervously in heaven wondering how this is gonna turn out. He is “a very present help.”

That means He’s not just aware of what’s going on—He’s in it with you. Right now. He’s not looking for the exit ramp. He’s holding you up, even when everything else feels like it’s falling down.

When life is out of your control, that’s not a sign of failure—it’s an opportunity to lean into the God who is always in control.

Here’s your one step for today:

When you feel anxious or overwhelmed today, say this out loud: “God, You are my refuge and strength. You are here. You’ve got me.”

Say it when you’re driving. Say it before a meeting. Say it in the middle of the chaos.

Let your soul hear what your heart needs to believe.

God, remind us that You’re not just somewhere out there. You are here. Help us to breathe deeply and trust fully. Even when the ground shakes, hold us steady in Your strength. In Jesus’ name—Amen.

Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. Remember—He’s got you. Come back tomorrow for more encouragement to help you live grounded in God’s truth.
