Feeling stuck doesn’t mean God has stopped working. In this episode, discover how unseen growth, like seeds underground, can prepare you for God’s greater plans.

Do you ever feel like your prayers aren’t getting through, or like your faith is just standing still?

Seasons of silence can feel like wasted time, but Jesus says in Mark 4:27 that even when we don’t understand it, the seed is still growing. God is often working in unseen ways, preparing you for what’s ahead.

In today’s devotion, you’ll hear the story of Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen, who once felt his career was over after a failed film project. What looked like a dead end became the soil for something far greater. His story reminds us that unseen growth is still growth, and God is never done writing yours.

Main Scripture:

Mark 4:27 – “The seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how…”

By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Why “stuck seasons” may be where God does His deepest work
  • How small, faithful steps today can bear fruit tomorrow
  • The hope that unseen growth is still real growth

Today’s Challenge:

Identify one area where you feel spiritually stuck. Then commit to one small, faithful act, praying, reading, serving, or encouraging someone, and trust that God is growing something beneath the surface.

He poured years into making a movie. As a young boy, he wanted to be a well-known Hollywood figure. He was motivated by winning awards and being legitimized. When his movie was released in 2017, it bombed. He said he felt that he had gone from being a director with a bright future to a director with no future. Dallas Jenkins prayed the prayer so many of us has prayed. "Lord, what now?" He had no plan, and no platform. Just a heart that felt stuck. Is this where the story ends? Or is something growing that he can't see yet?

Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I'm Bart Leger, and for the next few minutes, we're going to steady our hearts with encouragement from God's Word.

00:00:50.426 --> 00:01:01.304
Mark 4: 27 says, "Night and day, while he is asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens." Jesus reminds us that spiritual growth often happens in ways that spiritual growth often happens in ways we can't see or explain. Just like seeds underground.

00:01:03.683 --> 00:01:18.323
God works in hidden places long before the fruit shows up. Jesus ever felt like you're spinning your wheels spiritually. Maybe your prayers feel empty, your efforts are unnoticed. And sometimes our faith feels just flat. That's what Dallas Jenkins felt in 2017.

00:01:21.403 --> 00:01:29.433
But unseen growth is still growth. God often plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity.

00:01:32.834 --> 00:01:46.254
God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity.

00:01:49.313 --> 00:02:18.588
God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. God plants us in seasons of opportunity. Think about a seed. From above ground, it looks like nothing is happening. But something underground is happening even though we can't see it. Roots are spreading and life is stirring. And the beginnings of the plant are being built beneath the surface. When God has you in a waiting room, it's not wasted space. With the soil of your faith being strengthened.

00:02:14.229 --> 00:02:24.968
Dallas didn't know it then. But God was preparing him for something far greater than awards and Hollywood acclaim.

00:02:21.269 --> 00:02:39.229
Out of that disappointment came a Christmas short film for his church. No budget. Just something small and simple. That short film became the seed for The Chosen. A series now watched by millions around the world.

00:02:39.639 --> 00:02:44.028
The seed was sprouting long before anyone could see it. And

00:02:44.028 --> 00:03:05.438
Keep serving. Pick one small act of faithfulness and do it today.

00:03:09.308 --> 00:03:12.368

00:03:27.584 --> 00:03:36.813
In Jesus name, amen. Thanks for joining me today on Daily Devotions for Busy Lives.

00:03:33.033 --> 00:03:47.014
Remember, growth sometimes happens in unseen ways. Come back next time for more encouragement to help you live grounded in God's truth. Until then, God bless and have a great day.
