In a world where everything keeps shifting, is there anything you can truly build your life on? In this episode, discover how God's Word is an anchor that doesn't just inform you, it transforms you and equips you for every good work.
Have you ever felt like the ground beneath you keeps shifting?
Opinions change by the hour. Cultural norms flip overnight. What was celebrated yesterday is canceled today. It's disorienting, and if you try to build your life on anything other than solid ground, you'll eventually feel the foundation crack. So where do you turn when everything around you is unstable?
In this episode, we look at the story of Nabeel Qureshi, a devout Muslim raised in a loving family and trained in Islamic apologetics. He was confident that Christianity couldn't stand up to serious investigation. When Christian friends challenged him to examine the evidence, he accepted, certain the Bible would crumble under scrutiny. But as he read, something unexpected happened. The Scriptures didn't fall apart; they confronted him. For years, he wrestled, knowing that if he was wrong, it would cost him everything: his family, his community, his identity. Eventually, Nabeel surrendered his life to Christ, describing God's Word as the anchor that held him when everything else was shifting.
Through his story and 2 Timothy 3:15–17, you'll see that Scripture isn't just a collection of ancient writings; it's inspired by God and useful to teach, correct, and equip you for every good work. The world will keep changing, but God's Word is the solid rock you can build your life upon. It's not just meant to be read; it's meant to reshape you from the inside out.
BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING, YOU'LL DISCOVER:
- Why Scripture is more than information, it's meant for transformation that shapes how you think, feel, and live
- How 2 Timothy 3:15–17 describes what God's Word does: teaches, corrects, and equips you for every good work
- A simple way to engage Scripture this week with transformation in mind, not just a checkbox to complete
The world keeps shifting, but God's Word is an anchor. Build your life on the rock, and you'll stand when the storms come.

Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I'm Bart Leger.
Track 1 00:01:04
God's Word can either be the foundation of your life or just
Track 1 00:01:09
another book on the shelf. It's up to you. 2 Timothy 3, 15-17
Track 1 00:01:14
says,
Track 1 00:01:28
What What do these verses tell us about God's Word? First, it's
Track 1 00:01:44
inspired by God. That means it's not just a collection of ancient
Track 1 00:01:49
human writings. God breathed it out. The words on the page carry
Track 1 00:01:54
divine authority. When you read Scripture, you are not reading
Track 1 00:01:58
someone's opinion. You are encountering the living God.
Track 1 00:02:02
Second, it's useful. Paul gives us four ways Scripture functions.
Track 1 00:02:07
It teaches us what is true. It makes us realize what is wrong.
Track 1 00:02:12
It corrects us when we're off course, and it teaches us to do
Track 1 00:02:16
what's right. In other words, Scripture isn't passive. It's
Track 1 00:02:20
active. It works on you. And third, it prepares and equips.
Track 1 00:02:25
God uses His Word to get you ready for the good works He's
Track 1 00:02:28
called you to do. You can't live the life God has for you without
Track 1 00:02:33
being shaped by the truth God has revealed. We live in a world
Track 1 00:02:38
where everything seems to be shifting. Opinions change by the
Track 1 00:02:42
hour. Cultural flip overnight. What was celebrated yesterday is
Track 1 00:02:47
canceled today. It's disorienting, and if you try to
Track 1 00:02:49
build your life on anything other than solid ground, you'll
Track 1 00:02:53
eventually feel the foundation But God's Word doesn't shift. It
Track 1 00:02:57
doesn't change with the trends. It's the same yesterday, today,
Track 1 00:03:02
and forever, because the God who spoke it is the same yesterday,
Track 1 00:03:06
today, and forever. That's why Jesus said in Matthew 7 that the
Track 1 00:03:10
wise person builds their house on the rock. When the storms
Track 1 00:03:14
come, and they will, the house stands because the foundation
Track 1 00:03:18
holds. The foolish person builds on sand, and when the storm hits,
Track 1 00:03:23
everything collapses. The rock is God's Word, and building your
Track 1 00:03:28
life on it means more than just reading it occasionally. It
Track 1 00:03:32
means immersing yourself in it, letting it teach you, correct
Track 1 00:03:36
you, and shape you, letting it become the lens through which
Track 1 00:03:40
you see everything else. Too many of us approach Scripture
Track 1 00:03:44
looking for information. We look for facts. We look for verses.
Track 1 00:03:48
We look for knowledge. But God wants transformation. He wants
Track 1 00:03:53
His Word to change how you think and feel, and how you respond to
Track 1 00:03:58
difficulty, and how you treat people, how you make decisions.
Track 1 00:04:03
That kind of transformation doesn't happen through casual
Track 1 00:04:06
contact. It happens through consistent, prayerful engagement.
Track 1 00:04:11
You have to open the book. You have to ask the Spirit to teach
Track 1 00:04:14
you. And you have to let the truth confront the lies you
Track 1 00:04:17
believed and reshape your heart from the inside out. After years
Track 1 00:04:22
of investigation, Nabil surrendered his life to Christ.
Track 1 00:04:26
Not because it was easy, but because he became convinced the
Track 1 00:04:30
Bible was true. And the cost? It was enormous. It led to strained
Track 1 00:04:36
relationships and a painful separation from his family. But
Track 1 00:04:40
he described God's Word as the anchor that held him when
Track 1 00:04:43
everything else was shifting. In his book, Seeking Allah, Finding
Track 1 00:04:48
Jesus, he wrote about how Scripture didn't just give him
Track 1 00:04:52
information. It transformed him from the inside out. The world
Track 1 00:04:56
will keep shifting and opinions will change. But God's Word is
Track 1 00:05:00
the anchor. It's the solid rock we can base our lives upon. It's
Track 1 00:05:05
not just meant to be read. It's meant to reshape you. Nabil lost
Track 1 00:05:10
nearly everything to follow where Scripture led. But he
Track 1 00:05:13
found something far greater. He found the truth that held him.
Track 1 00:05:18
And it transformed him, giving him an unshakable foundation for
Track 1 00:05:22
the rest of his life. What about you? Is Scripture the foundation
Track 1 00:05:26
of your life? Or is it sitting on a shelf gathering dust? Are
Track 1 00:05:31
you letting it teach you? Are you letting it correct and
Track 1 00:05:34
transform you? Or are you just skimming the surface? Here's
Track 1 00:05:38
today's challenge. This week, commit to engaging Scripture
Track 1 00:05:41
with transformation in mind, not just information. Each time you
Track 1 00:05:47
open the Bible, what I want you to do is first pray something
Track 1 00:05:51
like, Lord, teach me what is true. Show me what's wrong in my
Track 1 00:05:55
life and correct me where I need it. And equip me for what you've
Track 1 00:05:59
called me to do. And then, read slowly. Let the words sink in.
Track 1 00:06:04
Ask the Spirit to apply them to your life, your relationships
Track 1 00:06:08
and decisions, the things you struggle with. Don't just check
Track 1 00:06:13
a box. Let God's Word work on you. Lord, thank you for giving
Track 1 00:06:19
us your Word. It's inspired and we can trust it. And it's living
Track 1 00:06:23
and powerful. Forgive us for the times we've treated it casually
Track 1 00:06:28
or left it unopened. Help us to build our lives on the solid
Track 1 00:06:31
rock of Scripture. Teach us what is true and show us what's wrong.
Track 1 00:06:36
Correct us and equip us for every good work. Let your Word
Track 1 00:06:41
transform us from the inside out. In Jesus' name, amen. If you're
Track 1 00:06:46
walking through a season where you need to get grounded in
Track 1 00:06:49
God's Word and you'd like prayer, I'd love to lift you up. Leave
