Ephesians 1:13–14 (NKJV)

You’ve probably heard someone say something is “safe as Fort Knox.”

But have you ever stopped to think about what that really means?

The U.S. Bullion Depository in Kentucky is home to a big portion of America’s gold. The subterranean vault sits behind a 22-ton blast-proof door surrounded by walls of granite, steel, and concrete.

And get this—no one person even knows the full combination. Different staff each know only a part, so no one can open it without the others.

It’s locked tight.

Protected by guards, razor wire, and layers of surveillance.

And what’s inside?

Welcome to Daily Devotions for Busy Lives. I’m Bart Leger. I’ve been a pastor for over 40 years, and I’m here to remind you that when life feels uncertain, you can rest secure in the promises of God. In today’s devotion, we’ll look at what it means to be sealed by the Holy Spirit—protected, promised, and never forgotten.

Inside Fort Knox are stacks of gold bars—millions of dollars in solid treasure.

They’ve been sitting there untouched for almost ninety years, sealed away and waiting for the day they might be needed.

Why? Because they matter.

They represent value.

And when something has value—you protect it.

I’ve been thinking about that. And one of the main verses that came to my mind is in the book of Ephesians.

Ephesians 1:13–14

“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”

Now I want you to think about that word—sealed.

When you trusted Jesus, God didn’t just save you and send you on your way.

He sealed you with His Holy Spirit.

Not with a code, not with steel bars—but with His own presence.

The seal of the Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will finish what He started.

Your salvation isn’t based on how tightly you can hold on to Him—it’s about how tightly He is holding on to you.

And the best part?

That seal isn’t temporary.

Paul says you’re sealed until the day of redemption—when Jesus returns, and every promise is fulfilled.

Fort Knox guards gold.

But God guards you. He guards your soul, your future, and your identity in Christ.

And there’s nothing more secure than that.

So if you’ve ever wondered,

“Can I really know I’m saved?”

“Will God still love me if I mess up?”

Just look at the seal.

You are His.

And no one breaks into what God has locked up.

Friend, you can walk in confidence today. If you have received God’s free gift of eternal life by trusting Jesus as your Savior, you don’t have to work to stay saved. You didn’t have to work to receive it. What makes you think you have to work to keep it? You get to rest in the One who sealed you. Not only have you been sealed. You’ve been adopted by God.

The Holy Spirit isn’t going anywhere—and neither are you.

Father, thank You for the promise of salvation and the seal of Your Spirit. When I doubt, remind me that You hold me secure. Help me rest in Your faithfulness, not my performance. I belong to You, and You never let go. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
