Is God’s love really big enough for your sin? In this episode, discover why Jesus is called the Friend of Sinners and how His grace reaches anyone, yes, even you.
That question has echoed in hearts for centuries. Maybe it echoes in yours. The good news of the gospel is this: Jesus didn’t come for the people who have it all together. He came for the broken, the guilty, the ones who know they need forgiveness.
In today’s devotion, you’ll hear the story of Michael Franzese, a former Mafia boss who met Jesus in a prison cell. His life shows us the truth of Luke 5:31–32—Jesus came not for the “healthy,” but for sinners who know they need a Savior.
Main Scripture:
Luke 5:31–32 – “Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”” (NLT)
By the end of this episode, you’ll discover:
- Why Jesus calls Himself the Friend of Sinners
- How no one is too far gone for His grace
- The simple step you can take today to receive His forgiveness
The Gospel Invitation
Here’s the heart of the good news: Jesus died for your sins and rose again so you could be forgiven and made new. Forgiveness is not earned; it’s received by faith. The Bible says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9, NLT).
If you’re ready to trust Christ as your Savior, you can pray something like this:
“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Today, I turn from my sin and put my trust in You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for loving me and making me new.”
If you prayed that prayer for the first time, I’d love to send you a free copy of my book, The Next Step for Your Journey. Email me at bart@dailydevotionsforbusylives.com, and I’ll mail it to you as my gift.
Today’s Challenge:
Ask yourself: Do I really believe God’s grace is big enough for me? Write down one thing you think makes you “unforgivable” and then write this truth beside it: “Jesus came for sinners, He came for me.”
